Frequently asked questions
To produce these cards, original pet photos were altered in Becasso so as to purposefully maintain a reasonable anonymity for the pet and their family, and the end result is card fronts that are more cartoonish than authentic. Therefore, original photos are altered in Becasso, card fronts are made in Adobe Express, with card layout made in Canva, then saved as a PDF and printed using Pixma G620 (a Mega Tank eco-friendlier model; max of 4800 x 1200 DPI). Although slight variance from images on your screen will occur, we do our best to check that each card is consistent from print to print.
All of our greeting cards are made to order and printed on high quality 88 lb. matte cardstock to ensure the colors and text are sharp and vibrant while not compromising recyclability. That was key. In the sample pack I purchased from Red River Paper, when printing and comparing, the glossy 96 lb. Pecos River Gloss was slightly better quality and looked very glamorous compared to the 88 lb. Polar Matte but the gloss didn't look so much better that I wanted to risk customers assuming it wasn't recyclable.
The initial idea that we'd take original photos and make them into cards was born in 2016 from folks who saw the pics and captions on our Instagram feed, @amythesitter. At that time, the photos on the card fronts were not going to be altered--some are very good snaps--but the years passed and as they did, it became essential that privacy for the pets and their families become a priority.
